wilderness wiki > Welcome

This wiki is an attempt to present information about the series of historical novels generally referred to as the Into the Wilderness series.

The story begins in 1792 when Elizabeth Middleton arrives in the town of Paradise, New York State. This fictional village on the edge of the Endless Forests is a far cry from the upper class upbringing of England where she was raised. She is determined to be the town's school teacher, to educate all children, male or female of any race or background, she didn't anticipate that her father (the Judge) may have other plans; or that she might meet Nathaniel Bonner. Follow the Timeline of events through the series from 'Into the Wilderness' through to 'Queen of Swords'.

The author of the series is Rosina Lippi writing under her pen name, Sara Donati.

More about the wiki

26 March: things to note

  • as there is no way to set up discussion pages (at least, not that I can find), I am about to enable a very basic forum. That's the place to ask questions about how to handle something here. Anything related to the books or the wiki, but that's all for now. Access to the forum will be for registered users only. The link should be available soon.
  • On the old wiki we had a class of pages called USER, which no longer exists. There are still all the old user pages, but their titles have to be edited and they need to be added to the Contributors category.
  • There's a feature called Hotwords which I'm going to get set up. All the terms that occur most often (the titles of the novels, etc) will be on that list, and what that means is, you don't have to put parentheses around those terms; they'll automatically be linked. If I can figure out how, I'll enable the Hotword page so anybody can add terms to it.

Big move, big mess. Lots to do. Please register if you are so inclined and then dig in.

Eventually there will be detailed help pages. And an index of some kind.

Places to go

Sample links: Elizabeth Middleton Paradise
If you put double parentheses around a term and there is no page for it, you'll see a red question mark on the page. If you click it, a new page with that title will be created. But first you'll see a list of possible pages at the top, which means — do you really need that new page, or will one of these do?

Example

  • Paris? — which doesn't need a page, so don't click on the question mark.
  • Nathan — don't create this page, but do look at the suggestions for other pages that might fit the bill.
