How-To start a character biography

So you want a page for a character who hasn't been mentioned so far. What to do, step by step:

• search again and make sure there's no page. If by chance you duplicate something already existing, but with a slightly different title, it will eventually get merged into that original page.
• Satisfied that nobody has yet made any reference to Andrew Jackson? Okay. Put that name in the search box, hit go. When the search results page comes up it will say that there is no such page, but would you like to create one? At which point you click an enthusiastic YES.
• Now you've got an editing screen in front of you, title: Andrew Jackson.
