The Village is a primarily residential neighborhood in lower Manhattan, bounded by 14th Street in the north and Houston in the south. The east/west boundaries are a matter of some debate, though officially the original historic district was strictly defined, as seen here.
Washington Square Park is a major feature of Greenwich Village.
I have never been able to track down a good copy of this photograph of Greenwich Village, which is, supposedly, taken from the Jefferson Market tower in the 1880s. Despite the low quality it seems to capture the essence of the neighborhood.
